Unfortunately Zelensky proposing peace to a Soviet hardliner only makes Ukraine sound weak and tired out making the Soviets hope Ukraine is almost ready to fall any day now. Unfortunately until Putin dies nothing will change because Putin remembers the Soviet loss in Afghanistan as a huge loss of face & military morale to the US supported mujahedeen!
Putins death alone likely won't stop the Soviet aggression immediately. It's quite likely Putin's persistence is being fueled to a large extent by the ultimate Soviet bureaucrat foreign Minister Lavrov, himself a "human" Berlin wall, totally unmoved & uninterested in causing mass human suffering.
