Has anybody else noticed the shocking similarity between The USA under Trump who's ego, ignorance, militarism and gross mismanagement of the federal government is steadily degrading the nation's ability to function properly on the international stage ... and the very similar circumstances that befell The People's Republic of China during the rule of Mao and later his power crazed widow Jiang Qing?
For all those who were born yesterday politically, It was the Chinese communist revolution which eventually made "China Great Again" yet it's principal revolutionary leader became frustrated and resentful of the Soviet-inspired central government and set out to "disrupt" it's operations and "purge" it's structure of all policies and professional politicians who Mao believed were slowing down his radical revolution.
School became a dirty word, universities were closed, faculty jailed or killed, whole government departments shut down and many government officials also charged, jailed and killed. Traffic signals in cities were ordered reversed so that "Red" (the communist color) would mean "GO" and Green would mean "STOP" . In China's foreign policy the only thing that mattered was starting wars with neighboring nations and/or instigating anti-government revolutions everywhere .
Since so many government officials were removed or jailed and all private business banned, the Chinese economy, which had begun to improve under stable early communist rule, began to deteriorate. Suicides especially of the young became rampant(our opioid epidemic) China's international relations nosedived with only tiny Albania as it's ally while most other countries even communist ones regarding China as a pitiful basket of insane chaos.
Finally, Mao Tse-Tung died of old age and his power hungry wife , even less qualified to govern, took over his position worsening the nation's disarray. Soon The PLA aka the national army arrested Mao's widow, directed experienced government officials to resume their jobs running the government and gradually restored basic economic and social order!
To me this political mess sounds very much like the mess America is beginning to descend into since the last election! So when will Trump's mismanagement begin to destroy the economy? (Housing market severely short on labor - Who planned the replacement of all experienced builders now being deported ??)
When will the Mao-like purge of The Dept. of State begin to ruin our international relations, trigger the next war or pull us OUT of the world economy? Maybe the Trump regime will start a war with North Korea which China will once again join but THIS time the Chinese military won't stop at the DMZ, but take full advantage of America's gross decline and only 'consider' stopping at The Mississippi river or the Washington beltway! Maybe Russia will 'come over' to our shores also?
The near total inability of the Administration to rebuild Puerto Rico's basic infrastructure and the resulting population transfer is a warning! If a volcano, earthquake or nuclear attack occurs during this administration who will direct recovery and reconstruction ?? Not Mr. Donald obviously.
Finally, when will Trump, like Madame Mao, finally be impeached or arrested by the U.S. Military which will, like China after Mao, be forced to rebuild American government and vital American institutions in order for Democracy to have a 'fighting' chance at a post-Trump regime survival? Where is Gen. Colin Powell when we need him?
