Modified vehicle exhaust systems creating loud exhilaration actually waste fuel that's getting more and more expensive lately.
So only the wealthy (drug dealers etc) will be able to afford excessively loud engines which were originally marketed to the poor and middle class drivers as show-off gadgets.
