Blink wifi security cameras by Amazon frequently go "offline" without constant tweaking by home occupant therefore they aren't reliable or practical for anyone leaving their property for a week or longer for vacation, business or medical needs!
One cause of this outage is Amazon's need for constant marketing & sales where the camera is taken offline deliberately by Blink to force owner to consider buying a new unit, series of units or "subscription" to the *cloud service package.
*A "cloud" is actually nothing of the sort. It's a giant factory on land containing many banks of computers that store your info, videos & pictures for which you pay monthly fees.
Operating the "cloud" costs billions of watts of electricity, & many gallons of water to cool off that hot electric power system, banks of lithium ion batteries for back-up data storage, and bright outdoor lighting, 24/7 for security.
Giant exhaust fans on top of the computer banks help pump away all the electric heat directly into the sky increasing our hot weather, violent storms, heavy rains & flooding.
So when you consider all the natural resources wasted to create "cloud convenience" you could just as well consider a little "cloud" on your desk in the form of an EXTERNAL STORAGE HDD or SSD UNIT the size of a deck of playing cards which plugs into your PC or phone through a little cable and costs you only once, not monthly forever!!
SIMPLE: IF IT REQUIRES A "SYNC" unit to be connected to the web IT'S UNRELIABLE, DONT BUY IT.
