By criminalizing homelessness the supreme court has inadvertently shown that governments must care for the Unhoused by providing alternatives!
Either incarceration= shelter & meals or temporary sleeping areas = supervised shelters or low income housing development= fair, realistic urban planning!
All these public funded options are more humane than leaving Unhoused people and whole families on their own to live like wild animals outdoors in capitalist chaos.
Which has been official public policy at least since the Reagan administration's "supply side" economic actions sharply reduced federal spending on low income (affordable) housing across the country in 1980!
It's way past time to put the failed Reagan/Gingrich counter-revolution of the 1980s back in its coffin and bury it deep under the mud.
