"SUPPORT FOR WFDD comes from" a few sucker listeners AND FROM DOZENS OF COMMERCIALS ( "don't donate? It'll be here") Of course it will !! WFDD's only real priority is crass commercialism. Listener support is a standing joke.
SO "UNDERWRITERS" Truthfully, most listeners don't want to hear your messages barked at them every 20 minutes (Preceded by Advertising Bennett's folksy homily) or at 8 am, 12 noon and 4 pm EVERY 5 minutes!
When given half a chance MOST AREA NPR "LISTENERS" will prefer to listen to WUNC-FM or other or any other NPR station with a smooth, respectful, intelligent transition between financial support and programming throughout the newsday!
Only those of us stuck with poor radio reception options are forced to "PAY" for our NPR news by tolerating the crass abuse and ceaseless greed pretending to be a "public service" of the WFBU private monopoly.
SO BEFORE YOU DONATE OR SUPPORT WFDD 88.5 FM (WINSTON SALEM NC)
Ask the station:
How much they are paid by Advertising ?
How much sustained support they would need to be mostly or fully commercial-free?
Require the station to stop claiming LISTENER support then following it with 3-6 ad spots! (Tacky)
Require the station to cease redundant, monotonous use of the word "support". (Tacky)
Require the station to stop RAISING THE VOLUMN when advertising (forces us to turn down the volumn, change channels or turn off and forget RADIO !! (Promoting exercise, saves energy restores peace to our homes and businesses) !
Require the station to fire the (bull horn bitch, support Nazi) general manager!!!
