Democrat Lyndon Johnson escalated bombing and the call up in the highly unpopular war in Vietnam. His escalating management of the Vietnam war put an end to most of his party's well meaning anti poverty and anti racism programs.
Massive antiwar protests near the white house heard demonstrators shouting the slogan "Hey Hey LBJ How many Kids did you Kill Today" !!
As a result of the War's huge unpopularity President Johnson gave up on running for a 2nd term as President.
It appears that U.S. Presidential history may be repeating itself with President Joe Biden having begun his administration with social, racial and economic programs similar to those of Lyndon Johnson.
But now his knee jerk support for the Israeli 'Wermacht' that is obviously engaging in excessive destruction and indescriminate killing of civilians in Gaza will likely terminate his hopes for winning a 2nd term as president of the United States.
Increasingly massive protests across the U. S. and the world against United States material support for Israeli genocide in Gaza are uncanny reenactments of protests against US bombing of Vietnam and Cambodia during the 1960s and the Johnson administration years!
