Some cities with high gun crimes are installing expensive technology to help local police to find shooting incidents quickly. However other cities can't afford this software.
In those cases especially, there's a low tech solution. Individual citizens who hear "the sound of gunfire" should call a police NON EMERGENCY NUMBER to report what they just heard, what direction it came from, any other info and their location for a radius police can search in!
If enough community members make these calls every time they hear gunfire sounds they can help the city find the bad guys at a much lower cost.
Callers can remain anonymous if they fear being called "a snitch " by gangs and drug dealers who are doing the local killing.
