The sheer brutality of the current zero covid 19 lockdown in the PRC seems inspired by the war in Ukraine which China supports as a necessary evil for Russia to recover its territory it "lost" during the liberal counter-revolution of 1991.
Since China's CCP plans to recover a piece of it's territory lost during its Civil War with the guomandong (KMT) in 1949 by means of a military conquest, it assumes toughening of its civilian population is necessary as the invasion date looms closer.
Many deaths and violence will occur on both sides of the Formosa straight until the island is reconquered and centrally ruled as is now Hainan island in the south China sea.
The constant almost deliberate re-emergence of Covid strains in China actually assists the CCP in maintaining a neo martial law reality as the alternative to liberal, capitalism and soft (bourgeois) consumerism which run counter to communist discipline and thus military readiness. But, ironically were necessary "evils" to modernize and build up the nation's economy and military industry.
The persistence of covid in China whether deliberate or not may be due to the unwillingness or inability of the CCP to eradicate the people's traditional beliefs in eating many types of unusual animals (now parodied on YouTube by a very plump young rural man)
So then the ongoing push by communist hardliners to re-militarize, discipline and culturally correct Chinese civilians either by continous lockdowns or war preparation may succeed in reshaping China yet again!
