DISTRACTED DRIVING CURE: CELL PHONES WHICH CEASE TRANSMITTING once vehicles are MOVING.

THE OBVIOUS SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF DRIVING cars, trains, buses etc. while using cell phones could be curbed by making a law that restricts in vehicle use to the duration of a traffic signal ONLY.  Once the light turns green and the vehicle begins movement than the call MUST BE CUT OFF IMMEDIATELY regardless of the desires of the user/s.

Such a law could be imposed by forcing all phones to respond to signals at intersections and/or to motion sensors at the towers or in the devices themselves.  An exception might be made for devices being used solely for directional GPS guidance systems.

Phones would also have to have a program which detects whether a user is operating a vehicle (close proximity to controls, pedals, wheel, driver's side of front seat?)

Such restrictive circuitry would get motorist's "used to" the habit of stopping a conversation when the traffic signal permits movement  and resuming at the next stationary opportunity!

Just as most cigarette  smokers are NOW accustomed to the practice of lighting up OUTSIDE of buildings rather than inside of them!
