I was amazed at how different China's male gymnasts look and perform from the early days of Chinese gymnastics. Today's competitors perform somewhat crudely, appear distracted as though their minds are partly elsewhere and some of the guys even look like street thugs with large facial scars and other facial marks!
The fact that they won the male contests by a slim margin suggests that the scoring may have been stretched to favor THE HOME TEAM so a riot wouldn't occur between Chinese and Japanese fans !
