G'boring - 200 Years of "No Practicing allowed"

Well it's summer again in the Gated city (Greensboro, NC) and in Greensboro that means it's 2.5 months of sweltering heat, loneliness and for active people, general boredom.

One of the main things that makes G'boro into G'BORING is it's wealth of LIFELESS-CITY PARKS. The City's parks are actually LIFELESS-BY-DESIGN. For proof of this, look no further than all those authoritarian, no nonsense signs in every park proclaiming "NO PRACTICING ALLOWED" "CITY FIELDS FOR PROGRAMMED ACTIVITY ONLY" Really these signs should say " "City Fields for PROGRAMMED INMATES ONLY" for truth in advertising. The practical effect of all this typical G'boro, heavy handed governance is to deny the public any natural, casual activities in these park settings, just in case something might get "out of hand" and a dirty word or a punch in the nose might occur now and then.

This policy of Recreational Martial Law has the practical result of virtually guaranteeing that most people won't want to bother to use a city park if the expectation is one of being alone and or bored to death. It's also one of the typical reasons why G'boro is failing in it's campaign of trying to attract more 20 somethings to move to the city and help make it less BORING and economically stagnant.

The Heavy Hand of Government and the Culture of Absolute Control is still alive and well in The Gated City ...
and that means EVERYTHING ELSE IS DEAD.
