HIGH POINT MARKET shouldn't have to KISS A BIG FAT ASS.

I think it's really too bad that The High Point Market Authority is having to go to Greedsboring's gate with a begging bowl in it's hands.

Don't they know that Gso. is in reality just "an overgrown small town" who's government and most of it's citizens know little and care little about anything or anybody outside the limits of it's snow-globe "city" limits? Why should "North Carolina's International City" have to struggle to communicate much less bargain with North Carolina's Clueless-Provincial City" ?? The fact that Gso. is a virtual non-entity is proven by the words of it's Mayor-For-Life Keith Holliday who can't understand why The Market Authority chose a simple, clear, to the point name for the semi-annual event rather than an all-inclusive-politically-feel good, acronym heavy, name like Gso. usually does for everything it has control over.

THE REASON THE NAME WAS CHOSEN, MR. DUH-MAYOR, IS THAT WE (HP) HAVE TO COMPETE WITH OTHER FURNISHING MARKETS IN THE OUTSIDE-WORLD. (But, of course, Mr. Gso. ,you could be forgiven if the "outside world" and the "free market" were strange, unfamiliar concepts to you!!!) Then there's Gso. councilman Tom Phillips who's literally asking High Point to get down on it's knees and KISS HIS ASS just for him to consider contributing a few dollars toward the Market. Also Greensboro was unhappy about the Market Authority's decision to change the event's dates WITHOUT CONSULTING GREENSBORO!

Well, gee WHY didn't Greensboro consult with High Point when it "set " the dates for the ACC and NCAA games. The reason, of course is most likely the same as High Point's: BECAUSE WE DON'T CONTROL THE SPORTING WORLD FROM GREENSBORO and so neither does High Point CONTROL THE WORLD HOME FURNISHINGS INDUSTRY FROM HIGH POINT. The market's dates were likely moved up in response to needs within the home furnishings industry itself! (But again, Gso. our state's overgrown-small-town, could be excused for it's total ignorance of free-market forces and events beyond it's small town borders)

I've got a suggestion for Mr. Casey of The Market Authority and Bill Bencini, High Point city councilman for a way to extract funds from Greensboro's whining, finger-pointing, crybabies. SELL Gso. what it has always wanted: "NAMING" RIGHTS!

Perhaps Bill Bencini can fill in Mr. Casey on a particular symbolic flash point in history between the two cities when Gso. officials on a visit to some other U.S. city during the mid 1990's tried to officially claim that Gso. , which chronically lacks for ANY distinctive, ORIGINAL hometown feature (other than being the site of various civil rights battles-1960's to the present) was in fact the "Home of the Furniture Market" while making NO reference to High Point !!! (I think HP lost a huge P.R. opportunity then by not pointing out how utterly absurd such a claim was since Gso. is/was one of The Least Creatively talented or Innovative places on earth. Both qualities being essential for a DESIGN community!!!)

With this issue in hand, Mr. Casey & Bencini could remind Self-Righteous-Gso. of an "inconvenient truth" and work out some sort of a deal where, for an "ANNUAL FEE" Greensboro could finally "brand" itself (un-originally, of course) and SHARE some portion of the official credit for being "home" of The Furniture Market when it goes around the globe struggling to make itself visible ON THE NATIONAL MAP.

Ahh, that's it! Greensboro could officially, call itself "The Home of The HIGH POINT MARKET" !! .....and then finally, PAY IT'S DUES.
